 Dental Emergencies
In the case of a dental emergency you should, in the first instance, contact your
own dentist if you have one. In all other circumstances, to receive emergency NHS dental care, or for help and advice, you should contact the dental helpline on 0845 050 8345. This service operates from 8.30am to 9.30pm seven days a week 365 days a year.
Fees
For Private Work
There are some types of certificates, forms and medical examinations which are not covered by the National Health Service. For these, the doctor will decide whether or not they will undertake them, and charge accordingly. These fees are decided between the doctors, who are guided by the recommended fees of the British Medical Association.
WHAT
TO DO IN TIME OF BEREAVEMENT
If Death Occurs At
Home
Telephone the doctor. They will visit to confirm death has taken place and say
whether they can issue a death certificate or whether, in the case of sudden death,
the coroner must be informed.
When Death Occurs In Hospital
Follow the hospital’s instructions with regard to formalities. Please do
not hesitate to contact the surgery for help and support.
There are two useful booklets: What to Do After a Death, which is written
by the Department of Social Security, and Help With Your Bereavement, which
contains information specifically for the Isle of Wight, and these are available
at the surgeries.
