Friends and Family Test

The NHS Friends & Family Test asks patients to think about their recent experiences of our service and asks “How likely are you to recommend our GP practice to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?”. There are six response categories ranging from ‘Extremely likely’ to ‘Extremely unlikely’. Respondents are then asked to give a reason for their answer. Finally, a supplementary question asks “If we could change one thing that would have improved your visit to us today, what would it be?”. The Test may be completed in the surgery on a pre-printed postcard from reception, or it can be performed online, either via the Practice web site or via the Practice App on the patient’s smartphone or tablet PC, or following a Home Visit by the Doctor. The scoring from the six categories is collated and submitted to NHS England each month for publication on the NHS Choices and NHS England web sites.

Between August and October 2017, the practice received 11 responses to the Friends and Family Test either by postcard, online submissions or via the practice App. Of those 11 responses, 10 said that they would be either extremely likely or likely to recommend South Wight Medical Practice to their friends and family.
